Following the 104th British Open Spring Festival Championship held in Birmingham earlier this month, the Mortimer family has confirmed that significant changes will be implemented for the 2027 event.
The announcement follows an open call for feedback from competing bands and brass band supporters on this year’s contests. A full review of the 2026 event is now in its final stages, with detailed proposals for 2027 to be communicated to all bands shortly.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their views and opinions about the 2026 contests in Birmingham. The feedback we have received – both the constructive suggestions and the concerns raised – has been invaluable, and we are grateful to the bands, supporters, and wider brass band community for engaging with us so openly. Bringing the Spring Festival to Birmingham presented a number of challenges, and we have listened carefully to what was said.”

All competing bands will be contacted shortly, together with a full statement for brass band supporters setting out the significant changes to be implemented for the 2027 Spring Festival.
